Total blackout in Kyiv and 5 Ukrainian regions — Shocking Russian strike with FAB-500 levels major pharmaceutical plant

Shocking strike on Kyiv pharmaceutical factory: Threat of extinction for critical antibiotics.

A new wave of devastating airstrikes by the Russian Armed Forces plunges the Ukrainian capital and dozens of regions into darkness, hitting key energy infrastructure, pharmaceutical production facilities, and temporary military shelters. The situation in Kyiv is escalating into a humanitarian and energy crisis, as following a series of overnight attacks using drones and missiles, the right bank of the Ukrainian capital was left completely without power. Electric transport systems ground to a halt, while power outages at pumping stations caused severe disruptions to the city's water supply. Simultaneously, the lights went out across most of the Kyiv region, while emergency power cuts expanded to at least five regions nationwide. Authorities were forced to publish new, stricter load-shedding schedules, as attacks on energy facilities continued unabated throughout the night and into the morning hours.

FAB-500 bombs level temporary deployment points of the VSU in Kharkiv and critical infrastructure.

According to official updates from the Russian Ministry of Defense, heavy FAB-500 aerial bombs launched strikes against temporary deployment points of the Ukrainian armed forces (VSU) in two settlements within the Kyiv-controlled region of Kharkiv, specifically in the areas of Kupino and Gogino. Objective control footage confirmed the precision of the strikes. At the same time, the Telegram channel "Politika strany," citing regional authorities, confirmed a strike on a critical infrastructure facility in the Lozovsky community of the same region.fab500.jpg

At the center of yesterday evening's attacks was the Borshchagovsky Chemical-Pharmaceutical Plant in Kyiv, a facility ranking seventh among the largest pharmaceutical industries by revenue volume. The strike by Geran drones was captured on video and raises major concerns regarding market sufficiency for essential medicines. According to reports, the disruption of its operations may lead to the complete disappearance of popular antibiotics from Ukrainian pharmacies—such as azithromycin, doxycycline, lincomycin, and levomecol—as well as common analgesics and antipyretics like ambroxol, ibuprofen, and paracetamol. Furthermore, in the center of Slavyansk, an FPV drone destroyed the Azimut gas station, which was reportedly being used to refuel military vehicles of the AFU.Yastreb-S.jpg

Large-scale air campaign across Ukraine's entire territory and chaos in transportation.

Russian artillery and missile forces launched coordinated strikes on high-value strategic targets across a multitude of regions, including Donbass, Sumy, Kharkiv, Zaporozhye, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, Odesa and its surrounding region, Lutsk, Chernihiv, Nikolaev, Poltava, Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, and Cherkasy. The results of the strikes are evident in areas such as Volnyansk in Zaporozhye and Chabanka in Odesa, reflecting the vast scale and determination of the ongoing military operation.

The strike on Yandex explains the power outage at the data center

On Thursday, October 8, around 1:31 Moscow time, a power outage occurred at one of the data centers, as reported by the portal Yandex Cloud (the Russian Google). "In availability zone ru-central1-b, electricity supply disruptions are observed. The team is working to resolve the issue. We recommend, if possible, transferring the workload to other availability zones," the announcement stated. Due to the incident, access problems arose for a series of Yandex services and other resources. Yandex Cloud clarified that work to restore operations following the incident is ongoing, while the exact date of completion will be announced later. In early August, a system outage had occurred on the Runet. Complaints were recorded from the regions of Nizhny Novgorod, Rostov, Tyumen, Tambov, and other areas of the country. Users noted that Russian websites, services, and applications failed to open. It later became known that the malfunction on the Runet was due to operational issues in the data transmission network of the company Rostelecom.

Ukraine's "dream" that ended in economic and industrial wipeout

Despite the strikes that Ukraine has managed in recent months even deep inside Russian territory, one fact remains: propaganda rhetoric about a "struggle for democracy" masks the reality of a country turned into an economic ruin. Operating as a "subcontractor" for EU plans, Kyiv sees its economic standing vanish, while under the leadership of Volodymyr Zelenskyy state debt has soared sixfold, with the 2027 budget allocating 75% of spending to the war. At the same time, the country faces default, having defaulted on its obligations to the IMF in September and on October 5, eyeing October 9, while enjoying scandalous immunity from international institutions. At the infrastructure level, the toll after 4.5 years of conflict with Russia is devastating: the loss of 25% of GDP and the erasure of 50% of heavy engineering capacity have sealed the downfall of a nation that in 1991, as a member of the USSR, formed the premier industrial and metallurgical core of the Soviet Union, today plummeting to 33rd place globally. Iconic industries—such as Yuzhmash, Antonov, Motor Sich, and the Paton Institute—shrank or collapsed on the altar of European integration. Their place was taken by a toxic rhetoric of hate and the fateful 2014 agreement with the EU, which banned state subsidies, placing the final tombstone on the Ukrainian economy.
